Senior Fund Accountant Private Equity

Location: Relocation to Amsterdam

Department: Fund Accounting

Reports to: Fund Accounting Manager / Head of Fund Accounting

About the Role

As a Senior Fund Accountant, youll play a key role in managing the accounting, reporting, and control processes for complex private equity structures. Youll work closely with investment teams, auditors, and other stakeholders ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insight in every transaction.

Youll also act as a reviewer and mentor within the team, helping maintain high standards while driving efficiency and improvement across fund accounting processes.

What Youll Do

Transaction Processing (50%)

  • Prepare and validate investment transactions, valuations, and other financial data in the portfolio accounting system.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of all recorded transactions, applying the four-eye principle.
  • Perform analytical and control checks to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Build a solid understanding of complex investment structures.

Financial Reporting (20%)

  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, investor capital accounts, and quarterly/annual fund reports.
  • Oversee the work of junior accountants and ensure consistency in reporting quality.
  • Support annual audits and collaborate with auditors for timely completion.
  • Enhance reporting templates and develop controls to meet evolving fund and investor requirements.

Cross-Functional Support (10%)

  • Partner with investment teams during deal closings and throughout the investment lifecycle.
  • Provide financial insights and ad-hoc analyses to management and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and external partners.

Process Management & Improvement (10%)

  • Take ownership of key fund accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
  • Mentor and train junior accountants, fostering a culture of learning and quality.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.

What Were Looking For

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 46 years of experience in:
  • Audit of Private Equity, Fund, or Banking & Financial Services clients (Big 4 or similar), or
  • Fund / Private Equity Accounting in fund administration or asset management.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (IFRS or US GAAP).
  • ACCA, CPA, ACA, or equivalent qualification (or in progress).
  • Advanced Excel skills; Power BI / EasyBI experience is a plus.
  • Excellent English communication skills confident, precise, and collaborative.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and review capabilities.
  • Motivation to relocate to Amsterdam and grow in a truly international environment.
